Since 2018, I started to reflect on how young classical musicians nowadays should programme concerts to bring live music performance closer and deeper to more audience without sacrificing or altering its musical nature and quality.
As an experiment, I curated my first concert - Song is Being, which utilises music, poetry and story-telling to tell two ancient greek love stories. Since then, I am convinced, that this concept of having a narrative, and of combining music with other art forms, not only does it create a unique concert experience, but also add extra artistic layers to the music. It also helps to reach a broader spectrum of audience, and to provide an easier entry point for audience to appreciate the music.
Inspired by "program music", I call this way of concert programming "program concert". On the above pages are the description of the story, programme order, and the programme notes of the Program Concerts I curated so far.
